Where is the Junction Triangle in Toronto?

Where is the Junction Triangle in Toronto?

Toronto West is full of unbelievable neighbourhoods that you must see to believe. It’s the polar opposite of the busy concrete jungle you might expect from Canada’s biggest city.

Instead, imagine scenic, safe, and yet fun and exciting communities, and you’ll have the perfect picture of pretty much any neighbourhood in the west end.

One area that deserves way more attention is the Junction Triangle. Not to be confused with The Junction (yet another beautiful and trendy Toronto West neighbourhood), the Junction Triangle has a unique character and a ton of benefits all of its own.

In this post, let’s explore everything there is to know about the Junction Triangle neighbourhood.

Before we dive in, are you thinking about buying a home in one of Toronto’s incredible west end neighbourhoods? Check out our featured listings to see what’s currently available.

Where is the Junction Triangle in Toronto?

Normally, when we talk about the borders of a neighbourhood, we’re referring to streets or nearby areas. Already, the Junction Triangle stands out, because it’s bordered on three sides by railway lines.

Interesting fact: the Railpath corridor was once an active route, but now forms the West Toronto Railpath, a beautiful green space that has been reimagined into a hiking and cycling paradise.

That’s just typical for the west end. So much greenery everywhere that you almost forget you’re in the heart of Canada’s most exciting and convenient city. Almost.

So why do we call it the Junction Triangle? That’s an easy question! The surrounding rail corridors form a triangle around the residential area. The junction of rail paths + triangular-shaped borders = The Junction Triangle, no complex math required. This is likely one of the most aptly named neighbourhoods in Toronto — maybe even in the world!

Curious about other neighbourhoods in the west end? Here are a few more neighbourhood spotlights you might find interesting:

What is the Junction Triangle Area, Toronto Known for?

The Junction Triangle neighbourhood is extremely family-friendly and also artsy, with a fun, up-and-coming vibe. The fact that it’s home to the famous West Toronto Railpath only adds to the appeal. Just imagine stepping outside your backyard, taking a short walk, and being greeted by trees, foliage, and endless greenery and wildlife as far as you can see.

There is also an abundance of independent restaurants and great little eateries right in the neighbourhood, as well as a generous number of shops where you can find anything you might need. It really is convenient-living at its best.

One of the things we love about this area is that you don’t necessarily find a lot of big-box stores or chains. Instead, the streets are lined with independent art galleries, specialty retail shops, and little cozy cafés and breweries.

If that’s not enough to keep you busy, don’t despair. The adjacent neighbourhood of The Junction offers even more shopping and dining opportunities over on Dundas Street West.

Is the Junction Triangle, Toronto Safe?

There’s a reason that families seek out homes located in the Junction Triangle. Yes, the parks, trails, quiet residential streets, and many conveniences have a lot to do with it.

However, families always have safety at the top of their minds, which makes the Junction Triangle even more attractive.

It’s not just the quiet streets and lower-than-average crime rate that make the area so appealing. There’s also a community-focused and friendly vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else — likely thanks to the number of artists, professionals, and young families who live here.

The presence of great schools also contributes to a safe, family-oriented environment. We would be remiss if we did not mention Perth Avenue Junior Public School with its early French Immersion program, as well as Humberside Collegiate Institute and Bloor Collegiate Institute, both of which have strong Fraser Institute rankings.
